Brookside

The neighbourhood of Brookside is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Brookside is very car friendly. It is very easy to come across a place to park. Thanks to a few nearby bus lines, Brookside is also home to a reasonably good public transit infrastructure. It is challenging for pedestrians to move around in this neighbourhood because meeting daily needs is at times difficult. This part of the city is also not very appropriate for biking since there is a significant amount of hills, and the bicycling infrastructure is rather limited.

Services

In all but a few cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries. When it comes to education, it is a reasonably short walk to reach primary schools and daycares from anywhere in Brookside. On the other hand, this neighbourhood does not contain any high schools.

Character

The character of Brookside is exemplified by its calm environment. Greenery is not particularly present in this area; to be more precise, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for a lot of streets is below average. Nonetheless, there are a few parks close by for residents to visit, including Rouge Park and Scarborough Hydro Green Space, and they are very well-situated, making it very easy to reach them. The noise levels in this part of Toronto are also very low, as the streets tend to be very peaceful.

Housing

In Brookside, about 80% of buildings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly townhouses. This part of Toronto experienced its most significant construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this era. This neighbourhood is particularly good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 5% are renters.
