Rural Pickering

Rural Pickering is a neighbourhood within Pickering, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Rural Pickering is an extremely good part of Pickering for moving around by car. It is very convenient to park. Traveling by walking is not very feasible for house buyers in this neighbourhood since almost no daily needs can be met without the use of a vehicle. It is also at times difficult to commute by bicycle in Rural Pickering because there are very few bike lanes, and there are a good number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists.

Services

It can be very difficult to access high schools and primary schools as a pedestrian from houses for sale in this neighbourhood. In addition, daycares are not abundant and therefore not always within walking distance. As far as eating is concerned, in all cases, a car is needed in Rural Pickering to access the nearest grocery store.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a calm ambience will enjoy Rural Pickering. Green spaces are easy to access and there are a few of them nearby for residents to explore. This area is also good for those who like quiet surroundings, as the streets are usually calm - although that is not the case around Highway 407 or the railway line.

Housing

The homes in this area are quite new, because roughly half of its dwellings were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. The housing stock of this area is composed primarily of single detached homes and townhouses. Homeowners occupy roughly 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood whereas renters occupy the remainder. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of the city.
