The region of Richmond is part of the city of Ottawa, Ontario, which is located in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in this region. Parking is easy. However, commuting by public transit is very difficult in this region. Nevertheless, residents benefit from approximately 10 bus lines. Richmond is not very well-suited for walking as running common errands is difficult. The bicycle is a fairly poor method of transportation in this part of Ottawa as the cycling infrastructure is quite bad. Thankfully, it is a flat ride to most locations, and biking is more feasible in certain areas than others.

Services

Doing one's groceries usually demands the use of a vehicle in this region. In terms of education, high schools and primary schools are not plentiful in this part of Ottawa, and thus not always within walking distance. In addition, parents may find it very difficult for their children to reach daycares on foot.

Character

Richmond is reasonably good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as the streets are generally quite tranquil - however noise can be bothersome around Highway 416, Highway 7 or the railway line. It is occasionally challenging to get to parks within the region since they are sparse. Despite that, there are over 200 parks nearby for residents to relax in.

Single detached homes and townhouses are the main housing type in Richmond.
