Transportation

Regardless of the mode of transportation, it is convenient to move around in Greenbelt. Greenbelt is very car friendly. It is a rather short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 416, from anywhere in this area, and it is very easy to park. The good public transit infrastructure allows people to get to many destinations without needing a vehicle. Homeowners can rely on plenty of rapid transit stations. The neighbourhood is served by over 100 bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. This neighbourhood is amenable to cycling because there are a fair number of bike lanes. Greenbelt is not very conducive to walking because running common errands is sometimes difficult on foot.

Services

It is a rather short walk to access primary schools from any location in Greenbelt. On the other hand, parents and their kids may find it difficult to get to high schools as a pedestrian. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools. As far as food is concerned, accessing the nearest supermarket on foot is possible for some, but not all, home buyers in Greenbelt. A limited variety of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well.

Character

There is an extensive selection of green spaces in Greenbelt. There are approximately 20 public green spaces close by for residents to relax in, such as Canaan Road to Cyrville Road Rail Corridor Bike Path and Hornets Nest Park, making them easy to get to. Since there are very few pedestrians, this part of Ottawa is relatively calm.

Roughly 40% of properties in Greenbelt were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. The predominant housing types in this neighbourhood are single detached homes and townhouses. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and the remainder are rented.
