The neighbourhood of Cumberland can be found in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, which is situated in the Ottawa - Gatineau metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of Ottawa is very car friendly. It is very easy to come across a place to park. In contrast, the transit infrastructure in Cumberland is rather limited. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally around the corner. Cumberland is not very appropriate for cycling because the bicycling infrastructure is quite bad, and the topography is not especially flat. It is also very difficult for pedestrians to get around in Cumberland since almost no daily errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.

Services

It is very rarely feasible for property owners in this part of Ottawa to buy groceries by walking. Regarding education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this neighbourhood.

Character

Cumberland offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are around 10 public green spaces nearby for residents to check out, like Cardinal Creek Valley and Wilfred Murray Park / R.J. Kennedy Community Hall and Arena, making it easy to get to them. This neighbourhood is also very good for those who enjoy quiet areas, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the vast majority of buildings in Cumberland, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder.
