Glendale is a neighbourhood within Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, which is located in the St. Catharines - Niagara metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in this neighbourhood. It is very easy to park, and the majority of real estate listings are a reasonably short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Queen Elizabeth Way. However, travelling by transit can be very hard in this part of Niagara-on-the-Lake as a result of the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines. It is challenging for people travelling by foot to navigate this neighbourhood because many daily needs are difficult to carry out without a car. Glendale is also not particularly amenable to biking since there are a fair number of slopes, and there are few bike lanes.

Services

Property owners in Glendale almost always have to turn to a car to shop for their groceries. Residents of this part of Niagara-on-the-Lake are served by a few restaurants as well. With respect to education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in Glendale. Moreover, there are only a very small number of daycares and accordingly they can be a very long walk away.

Character

The character of Glendale is exemplified by its calm atmosphere. Most areas in Glendale are quiet, as the streets are generally tranquil - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around Queen Elizabeth Way, Highway 405 or the airport (St. Catharines/Niagara District Airport).

The housing stock of Glendale is composed primarily of single detached homes and townhouses. Most of the housing growth in this area has occurred after the year 2000. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the units in the neighbourhood and 20% are rented.
