Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Southdown is a neighbourhood within Mississauga, Ontario.

Transportation

This neighbourhood enables homeowners to get around by a variety of methods of transportation. The public transit service in Southdown is reasonably convenient as a result of Clarkson Go Station Platform 9 with access to the University Express, and a few nearby bus lines. Southdown will also draw home buyers who value living in a compact community since it is fairly walkable; most day-to-day needs are convenient to carry out without a vehicle. It is convenient to get around by bike in this part of the city since the cycling network is fairly good.

Services

Getting to the nearest grocery store by walking is an option for some, but not all, property owners in this area. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well. As far as education is concerned, parents and their schoolchildren will value that no matter where their house is located in this neighbourhood, daycares and primary schools are close by. In contrast, Southdown does not contain any high schools.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Southdown, as well as some areas with a vibrant atmosphere. The majority of locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, such as Lakeside Park and Bromsgrove Park, since there are about 10 of them close by for residents to discover. Thanks to the presence of few pedestrians, this part of the city remains relatively quiet, although there can be higher levels of noise for those who are closer to the railway line.

Housing

Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in Southdown. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about three quarters of the properties in Southdown and one quarter are rented. This neighbourhood experienced its most significant building boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available homes are from this era.
