Fairfield

Fairfield is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario, which is situated in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

It is easy to commute by bike in Fairfield since bike riders do not encounter serious hills, and there are a fair number of bike lanes. Fairfield is also suitable for those who like to get around on foot; many common errands can be run without needing a vehicle, and plenty of businesses are rather close by. Fairfield is very car friendly. It is easy to access a parking spot, and the majority of real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 85. In contrast, Fairfield is not particularly transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is generally around the corner.

Services

Parents and their children will appreciate the proximity to both primary and secondary schools, which are within a short distance from the majority of homes for sale in Fairfield. In contrast, families may find it challenging for their kids to access daycares as pedestrians. As far as eating is concerned, getting to the closest grocery store by foot is possible for some, but not all, house buyers in Fairfield. However, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner.

Character

The character of Fairfield is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. Most areas in this part of Kitchener are very quiet, as the streets are usually very peaceful near Highway 85. Finally, public green spaces, like Breithaupt Park, are especially well-situated and there are about 10 of them close by for residents to enjoy, which makes them very easy to access.

Housing

Most of the housing growth in Fairfield took place before the 1960s. In this part of Kitchener, around half of buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. The population residing in this area is evenly split between owners and renters. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of unit sizes; houses range from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
