Part of the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area, Conestoga is a neighbourhood within Waterloo, Ontario.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Conestoga. It is very convenient to park, and nearby highways, such as Highway 85, are very easy to access from any home in Conestoga. In contrast, getting around by public transit is sometimes difficult in this part of Waterloo. Nonetheless, rapid transit stations, including Northfield Station with access to the 301 | Ion, are commonly close by from the bulk of residences in the neighbourhood. There are a few bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. This part of the city is not very appropriate for bicycling as there is a considerable amount of elevation changes, and the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive. Walking is also not very popular in Conestoga, although most daily needs are easy to carry out on foot.

Services

A supermarket is typically accessible within a reasonably short walk from any location in Conestoga. Furthermore, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a limited selection of coffee shops is available as well. Finally, due to the presence of very few people out and about on the streets, this part of Waterloo is relatively quiet; however noise levels are higher closer to Highway 85 or the railway line.

Housing

Renters occupy about two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood and the remainder are occupied by owners. In this area, around 40% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Waterloo experienced its biggest building boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing is from this era. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
