Summit

Part of the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Summit is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

Summit is very car friendly. The majority of real estate listings are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 403, and parking is generally easy. It is very inconvenient for pedestrians to navigate Summit because very few common errands can be run without a vehicle. Bicycling is also difficult in this part of the city as the cycling network is not very comprehensive, and riding is rendered strenuous by the typically sloping terrain.

Services

This area does not have any high schools or primary schools. Concerning food, property owners in Summit almost always have to turn to a vehicle to access the nearest supermarket.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy Summit. Most areas in Summit are quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around Highway 403. Green spaces aren't well-distributed, which results in them being rather difficult to get to from most locations in the neighbourhood. Despite that, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing roughly 70% of buildings in Summit, whereas the rest are mainly mobile homes. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. About 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s.
