Dundurn

Located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Dundurn is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

The car is usually the favoured method to navigate Dundurn. The majority of the street network is made for driving, and parking is easy. On the other hand, this neighbourhood is not especially transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically very close by. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Dundurn, even though most daily needs are easy to meet without a car. Although there is a moderately high density of bike riders, and some bike-friendly pockets can be found, this part of the city is also not very suited for bicycling as the cycling network is rather limited, and the topography is not very flat.

Services

It is a rather short walk to access primary schools from most properties for sale in Dundurn. However, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood. With respect to food, the nearest grocery store in this part of Hamilton is generally only an extended stroll away. Likewise, this area is a good place in which to go out to eat.

Character

A highlight of Dundurn is its broad selection of green spaces. It is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in. This area is an excellent neighbourhood for those who don't mind a bit of noise, as traffic during busier hours of the day can occasionally be bothersome.

Housing

In Dundurn, around half of buildings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Most homes in this part of the city were constructed pre-1960, during its most significant building boom. This part of Hamilton has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the remainder are renters.
