Transportation

The public transit system in York Mills is quite convenient due to Oriole with access to the Richmond Hill Line, and a few nearby bus lines. On the other hand, the bike is a somewhat poor means of transportation in this area since the cycling infrastructure is rather limited, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. Thankfully, some pleasant areas for cycling exist. Travelling by foot in this neighbourhood is not very common, although many day-to-day needs can be met without having to resort to a vehicle. However, the car is usually the favoured way to get around in York Mills. Most properties for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 401, and it is very convenient to access a parking spot.

This part of the city is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be reasonably peaceful - however some areas can be quite loud, especially close to Highway 401 or the railway line.

Housing

Homeowners occupy around two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood while the remainder are rented. In this part of the city, most buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood experienced its largest construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available properties are from this time period. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
