Woodlands

Woodlands is a neighbourhood within Pickering, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best way to move around in this neighbourhood is very often a car. It is very easy to access a place to park, and most of the street infrastructure is built for cars. On the other hand, the public transit service in Woodlands is not especially frequent. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Woodlands, although most day-to-day needs are easy to meet on foot. It is also challenging to get around by bicycle in this part of Pickering since the bicycling infrastructure is rather limited, and the terrain is not particularly flat. Nevertheless, biking is more practical in some areas than others.

Services

It is convenient to get to the nearest supermarket by walking from most properties for sale in Woodlands. Likewise, a cafe is on average a rather short stroll away, and a small number of restaurants are available in this neighbourhood as well. As far as education is concerned, in this part of Pickering, parents and their children will generally be able to get to daycares and schools on foot.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Woodlands. Parks are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them close by for residents to explore, making it easy to reach them from most locations within Woodlands. It is relatively calm in this part of Pickering, as there are very few people out and about on the streets.

Housing

In Woodlands, roughly two thirds of buildings are single detached homes, and the rest are mainly duplexes and townhouses. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented. About one third of properties in this part of Pickering were built between 1980 and 1990, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
