It is a rather short drive to the closest highway from anywhere in West Rouge, and it is convenient to come across a place to park. West Rouge is also reasonably transit friendly. For example, train stations, including the Rouge Hill on the Lakeshore East, are not very far-removed from the greater part of properties in the neighbourhood. There are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. West Rouge is conducive to biking. In contrast, it is sometimes difficult for pedestrians to get around in this part of the city as running daily errands is at times challenging by walking.

Character

West Rouge offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. There is a fair amount of greenery in this area as there are numerous tree-lined streets. This neighbourhood is very quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the units in West Rouge while renters occupy the remainder. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. About one third of properties in this area were built in the 1980s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of Toronto is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
