St.Andrew-Windfields

Located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, St.Andrew-Windfields is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

St.Andrew-Windfields affords property owners the choice between various means of transportation. Owing to 2 rapid transit stations (York Mills Station - Northbound Platform and York Mills Station - Southbound Platform) with access to the Line 1 (Yonge-University), and about 20 nearby bus lines, the good transit network allows people to get to many destinations without needing a vehicle. This area is also a fairly convenient part of Toronto for pedestrians; many daily errands can be run without needing a car, and various businesses are moderately close at hand. Bicycling is challenging in this neighbourhood since the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive, and there are a fair number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave. Nonetheless, riding a bike is more practical in some pockets than others.

Services

It is a reasonably short trip to access schools and daycares from most homes for sale in this part of the city. Along with public schools, there are private elementary and high schools. As far as food is concerned, it is easy to access the closest grocery store without a vehicle in St.Andrew-Windfields. In addition, this area is a good place in which to go out to eat, and property owners can enjoy a few cafes as well.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in St.Andrew-Windfields, despite its sometimes busy atmosphere. To be more specific, a large number of locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, including St. Andrews Park - North York and Vyner Greenbelt, since there are around 30 of them close by for residents to relax in. This part of the city is relatively quiet, due to the presence of few pedestrians; however noise levels are higher closer to Highway 401 or the railway line.

Housing

Roughly two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. In this area, most buildings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly large apartment buildings. About 45% of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1990s. This neighbourhood has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
