Legacy

Legacy is a neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best mode of transportation in Legacy is usually a car. It is very convenient to come across a place to park, and the majority of houses for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 407. However, commuting by public transit is challenging in this area. Nonetheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly nearby. Travelling by bicycle is at times difficult in Legacy because the area is not especially flat, and the cycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed. Nevertheless, some bicycling-friendly sectors exist. This neighbourhood is also not very convenient for walking as few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.

Services

Parents and their schoolchildren will value that wherever their property is situated in Legacy, primary schools are nearby. However, Legacy does not contain any high schools. In terms of food, it is frequently possible for property owners in this neighbourhood to buy their groceries on foot. There are also a few options for those who appreciate restaurants within walking distance.

Character

The character of Legacy is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This neighbourhood is reasonably quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several noisier sections, especially close to Highway 407. Lastly, parks are very well-distributed and there are a few of them nearby for residents to visit, making them very easy to reach from most locations within Legacy.

Housing

Legacy experienced its biggest construction boom in the 1990s, so most of the available properties are from this time period. The predominant housing types in this part of Markham are single detached homes and townhouses. Nearly all of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. This part of the city is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
