Hickory Woods is a neighbourhood within Brampton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Hickory Woods provides home buyers with several alternative modes of transportation. The reasonably good transit system allows people to get to many destinations without needing a car. There are approximately 10 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. Many of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are also reasonably suitable for people who get around as pedestrians; most daily needs are easy to meet without a vehicle. Hickory Woods is moderately appropriate for cycling.

Services

In this part of the city, families will usually be able to get to daycares and primary schools on foot. However, this neighbourhood does not contain any high schools. Regarding food, accessing the nearest grocery store as pedestrians is feasible for some, but not all, property owners in this neighbourhood. There are also a limited number of opportunities for those who care about restaurants and cafes in close proximity.

Character

The character of Hickory Woods is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. This part of Brampton is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case near Highway 407. Finally, a lot of locations within the neighbourhood have good access to green spaces, such as Hickory Wood Park, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around one third of dwellings in Hickory Woods, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings and duplexes. This area also has a good choice of unit sizes; houses range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy around 60% of the dwellings in Hickory Woods and the remainder are rented. The homes in this part of the city are quite new, since about one third of its dwellings were constructed in the 1990s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 2000s.
