The neighbourhood of Downsview is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

No matter the medium of transportation, it is straightforward to move around in Downsview. Owing to 2 rapid transit stations (Downsview Park Station - Northbound Platform and Downsview Park Station - Southbound Platform) with access to the Yonge - University Line, and about 20 nearby bus lines, this part of the city has a good public transit infrastructure. It is also easy for pedestrians to get around in this area; many daily needs can be met on foot. The bike is a sometimes poor means of transportation in Downsview as the bicycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and the area is not especially flat. Thankfully, biking is more feasible in some sectors than others.

Services

In Downsview, parents and their kids will generally be able to get to schools and daycares on foot. Concerning food, the nearest supermarket in Downsview is usually only a reasonably short walk away. Likewise, this area is a good place in which to go out to eat, and a small selection of cafes can be found as well.

Character

Despite the somewhat busy feel, there are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Downsview. More specifically, there are around 20 parks nearby for residents to relax in, including Roding Park and Mount Sinai Memorial Park, making it very easy to get to them. This part of the city is relatively quiet, thanks to the presence of few pedestrians; however noise levels are higher closer to the railway line, the airport (YZD), Highway 401 or Highway 400.

Housing

In Downsview, roughly one quarter of buildings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. About 40% of homes in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960.
