Box Grove

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Box Grove is a neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario.

Transportation

The car is very often the preferred approach to move around in this part of Markham. Accessing a place to park is generally easy, and most properties for sale are a rather short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 407. In contrast, the public transit service in this area is not very frequent. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is straightforward to reach a nearby bus stop from most homes. This neighbourhood is not especially cycling-friendly because the bicycling network is rather poor, and there are a fair number of slopes. This part of the city is also not very suitable for walking because running common errands is impractical.

Services

A fraction of property owners in Box Grove may be able to reach the closest supermarket on foot, while others will have to use a vehicle. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. In terms of education, daycares and primary schools are convenient to get to on foot from any location in Box Grove. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this part of the city.

Character

Box Grove offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This neighbourhood is reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around Highway 407 or one of the railway lines. Finally, there are approximately 30 public green spaces nearby for residents to visit, making it easy to get to them.

Housing

Most homes in Box Grove were constructed following the year 2000, during its biggest building boom. The substantial proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy nearly 90% of the units in Box Grove and the rest are rented. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
