The neighbourhood of Bay Ridges is part of the city of Pickering, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred approach to get around in this area is very often driving. Parking is easy, and it is a short car ride to the closest highway, such as Highway 401, from anywhere in Bay Ridges. In contrast, the public transit system in this neighbourhood is not very practical. Nevertheless, it is convenient to find a nearby train station, including the Pickering on the Lakeshore East Line, from the majority of residences in the neighbourhood. House owners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. It is challenging to commute by bike in this area as this part of the city has a fairly poor bicycling infrastructure, and the terrain is not particularly flat. Walking is also not very common in this area, despite the fact that most daily needs are convenient to carry out on foot.

Services

Parents and their kids will welcome the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from the majority of houses for sale in this neighbourhood. In contrast, there are no high schools in Bay Ridges. Concerning eating, a car is often needed in Bay Ridges to reach the nearest supermarket. Nevertheless, getting to the closest pharmacy and accordingly some staple foods is generally straightforward. There are also about 10 restaurants and coffee shops in Bay Ridges.

Character

Bay Ridges is reasonably quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to Highway 401 or one of the railway lines. Housing

In Bay Ridges, about 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 80% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are occupied by renters. This part of Pickering experienced its biggest construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period.
