Transportation

Stevenson is an extremely good part of Oshawa for driving. Parking is quite easy, and the majority of homes for sale are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 401. In contrast, Stevenson is not an especially pleasant part of Oshawa for moving around by public transit. Thankfully, residents profit from the Durham College Oshawa on the Lakeshore East. There are around 10 bus lines, and bus stops are typically nearby. Bicycling is occasionally challenging in Stevenson as there are a good number of elevation changes, and the cycling network is not very comprehensive. Thankfully, certain pleasant pockets for bicycling exist. There also aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of this area, even though many daily needs can be carried out on foot.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are convenient to walk to from any location in Stevenson. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood. In terms of food, getting to the closest supermarket by walking is an option for some, but not all, property owners in Stevenson. A small variety of restaurants and cafes can be found as well.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Stevenson. Access to green spaces is easy in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out. This part of Oshawa is relatively quiet, as there are few pedestrians, although there can be more noise for those who are around one of the railway lines or Highway 401.

Housing

Townhouses are the most common housing type, representing around 45% of buildings in Stevenson, and the remaining dwellings are mainly small apartment buildings. This area also has quite a good selection of unit sizes - although this neighbourhood is notable for those looking for three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the units in Stevenson and 20% are occupied by renters. This part of Oshawa experienced its most significant building boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing is from this time period.
