Donevan

Part of the Greater Oshawa metropolitan area, Donevan is a neighbourhood within Oshawa, Ontario.

Transportation

Commuting by car is very easy in this part of the city. Many real estate listings are a rather short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 401, and it is easy to come across a parking spot. On the other hand, travelling by public transit is difficult in Donevan. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most residences. It is at times difficult to travel by bicycle in this part of Oshawa since the topography is not especially flat, and there are few bike lanes. Walking in Donevan is also not very popular, despite the fact that many common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle.

Services

Daycares and primary schools are easy to access on foot from most properties for sale in Donevan. However, high schools are not very plentiful and therefore not always within walking distance. Families benefit from public and private primary schools. When it comes to eating, reaching the closest grocery store by walking is an option for some, but not all, home buyers in this area. There are also a few options for those who value restaurants and cafes in close proximity.

Character

The character of Donevan is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. There are approximately 20 parks close by for residents to visit and they are very well-spread out, which makes it very easy to reach them. This area is also good for those who need quiet surroundings, as the streets tend to be reasonably peaceful - although that is not the case closer to the railway line or Highway 401.

Housing

In Donevan, about three quarters of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest are mainly townhouses. A majority of the housing growth in this part of Oshawa occurred between 1960 and 1980. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters.
