East London

The neighbourhood of East London is part of the city of London, Ontario, which is located in the Greater London metropolitan area.

Transportation

Physically active property owners will welcome the rather bicycling-friendly nature of this area. More specifically, the cycling infrastructure is good. A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also fairly conducive to people who prefer to travel by walking; most daily needs are easy to carry out without the use of a vehicle, and various businesses are rather close by. East London is not particularly transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. In contrast, driving is a reasonably good mode of transportation in East London. Parking is generally easy.

Services

Daycares and primary schools are convenient to reach as a pedestrian from anywhere in East London. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood. With respect to food, a supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a short walk from anywhere in this area. Additionally, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a fair number of choices, for example on Dundas Street, and residents benefit from a few cafes as well.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy East London. It is easy to access green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to unwind in. This area is quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines.

Housing

In East London, about 45% of buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood took place pre-1960. This area is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes. About 55% of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home and the remainder are owners.
