Transportation

Markers Acres is particularly car friendly. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to drive to from anywhere in this part of Kingston, and it is very convenient to come across a place to park. On the other hand, this area is not especially transit friendly. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally very close by. It is at times difficult for pedestrians to get around in this area since very few day-to-day errands can be run without a car. Despite the fact that some enjoyable areas for bicycling exist, Markers Acres is also not especially bike-friendly because the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and the terrain is not particularly flat.

However, there are no high schools in this part of Kingston. Regarding food, property owners in Markers Acres will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a rather short trip away. Residents are served by a few restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

People who prefer a calm environment will enjoy Markers Acres. This part of the city is very quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic closer to Highway 401 or the railway line. Finally, green spaces are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to check out, which makes it easy to get to them.

Housing

Roughly 60% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and renters occupy the remainder. In this neighbourhood, roughly 45% of dwellings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. About half of properties in this part of Kingston were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
