Part of the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Sherwood is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

Cycling is convenient in this part of Hamilton. This part of the city is also fairly well-suited for pedestrians; many common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. The transit service in this area is not particularly practical. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. However, the favoured approach to navigate this area is often a car. It is easy to come across a parking spot.

Services

Parents and their kids will appreciate the proximity to both primary and secondary schools, which are within walking distance from all houses for sale in Sherwood. However, there are only a very small number of daycares and consequently they can be a very long stroll away. As far as eating is concerned, some, but not all, house buyers in this part of Hamilton will live within walking distance of the closest supermarket. There are also a few restaurants and cafes in Sherwood.

Character

Sherwood is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. There are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy, like Escarpment Ward 4, making them very easy to reach. The noise levels in this neighbourhood are also quite low, as the streets are usually reasonably calm.

Housing

In Sherwood, around half of buildings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. The population residing in this part of the city is evenly split between owners and renters. Around two thirds of the homes in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960.
