In contrast, Oakes is not a very pleasant part of Hamilton for moving around by public transit. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are usually close by. In contrast, this area does not contain any high schools. Concerning eating, getting to the nearest supermarket on foot is possible for some, but not all, house buyers in Oakes. There are also a few options for those who appreciate nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

Oakes is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. Most areas in this part of Hamilton are very quiet, as the streets tend to be especially tranquil close to Highway 403 or Lincoln M Alexander Parkway. Finally, most locations within the neighbourhood have fairly good access to green spaces, like Meadowlands Community Park, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing most buildings in Oakes, and the remaining properties are mainly duplexes. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder. This area experienced its biggest building boom in the 1990s, so most of the available properties are from this time period.
