Gilbert

The neighbourhood of Gilbert can be found in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Gilbert is a fairly pleasant part of Hamilton for pedestrians; many common errands can be run without a car. On the other hand, this area is not particularly bicycling-friendly since there are few bike lanes, and there are a good number of elevation changes. The public transit system in Gilbert is not very convenient. Thankfully, property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. In contrast, the best method to get around in Gilbert is very often a car. It is easy to park, and many real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Lincoln M Alexander Parkway.

Services

Families will appreciate that no matter where their house is located in Gilbert, schools and daycares are nearby. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools. With respect to eating, it is rarely possible for house buyers in Gilbert to shop for their groceries as pedestrians. Nevertheless, getting to the nearest pharmacy and thus some staple foods is generally very easy. A limited selection of restaurants can be found in this part of the city as well.

Character

Gilbert offers a calm ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are a few green spaces nearby for residents to visit, such as William McCulloch Park, and they are especially well-located, making it easy to access them. This area is quiet overall, as the streets are generally reasonably peaceful - although that is not the case around Lincoln M Alexander Parkway.

Housing

About two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. In this part of the city, around 60% of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly townhouses. This neighbourhood experienced its most significant construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available properties are from this era. There is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this neighbourhood.
