Most homes for sale are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 35 & 115, and it is very easy to park. However, commuting by transit can be very difficult in Orono due to the service's low frequency. Most houses for sale in this area are located in places that are not very well-suited for walking as very few common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. The bicycle is a rather poor means of transportation in Orono because there are very few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave.

Services

It is very rarely feasible for home buyers in Orono to purchase their groceries by walking. Nevertheless, pharmacies are typically convenient to reach on foot and supply some staple foods. Residents of Orono can enjoy a few restaurants as well. In terms of education, primary schools are easy to walk to from most houses for sale in this area. In contrast, there are no high schools in Orono.

Character

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 90% of dwellings in Orono, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of housing sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the remainder are renters. This part of Clarington experienced its biggest construction boom before the 1960s, so most of the available housing stock is from this era.
