About Nunavut

In 1942, a major air base for the United States Air Force was built in Iqaluit, meant for refueling short range aircrafts heading to Europe.
Nunavut is Canada's newest territory, having been created on April 1st, 1999.
The Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park Reserve, found in Iqaluit, features the famous Sylvia Grinnell River, one of the places first explored by American explorer Charles Francis Hall in 1861.
Tanya Tagaq, a famous Inuit throat singer from Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 2016.
Due to permafrost, buildings in Nunavut are built on top of stilts.
