French Village

Situated within the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, French Village is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

This part of Halifax is particularly car friendly. It is very easy to park. The bike is a fairly poor method of transportation in this community because the bicycling network is quite bad, and bicycling is made strenuous by the often hilly terrain. Traveling as a pedestrian is also not very feasible for house buyers in this area since almost no common errands can be run without a car.

Services

French Village does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Regarding food, house buyers in this part of Halifax almost always need a car to do their grocery shopping.

Character

French Village offers a relaxed atmosphere. French Village is very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. Parks aren't well-situated, making it rather difficult to reach them. Still, residents will be able to access parks in nearby communities.

Housing

Homeowners occupy around 90% of the properties in the community while the rest are rented. The substantial percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. About 30% of properties in this community were constructed before the 1960s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. This part of the municipality is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
