Character

Cooks Brook is very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. It is very difficult to reach green spaces since they aren't well-situated. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

The large proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Cooks Brook is an important part of its character. Around 30% of properties in this area were constructed in the 1980s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of Halifax is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the units in the community are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented.
