Lower Truro

The neighbourhood of Lower Truro is part of the subdivision of a county municipality of Colchester Subdivision C, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Truro metropolitan area.

Transportation

Lower Truro is very car friendly. The majority of homes for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, and parking is quite easy. Commuting by bicycle is sometimes challenging in Lower Truro as the cycling infrastructure is rather limited, and there are a good number of slopes for cyclists to brave. Nevertheless, biking is popular. Lower Truro is also not very conducive to walking because carrying out day-to-day needs is sometimes challenging on foot.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of the subdivision of a county municipality. Moreover, there are only a very small number of daycares and therefore they can be a very long walk away. Concerning food, getting to the nearest supermarket on foot is practical for some, but not all, property owners in this area. Residents of this part of Colchester Subdivision C benefit from approximately 10 restaurants as well.

Character

Since there are very few people out and about on the streets, Lower Truro remains relatively quiet.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing most dwellings in Lower Truro, but small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and one third are renters.
