Hilden

Located within the Greater Truro metropolitan area, Hilden is a neighbourhood in Colchester Subdivision C, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Hilden is an extremely good part of Colchester Subdivision C for driving. Parking is quite easy. Traveling as a pedestrian is not very practical for property owners in Hilden as almost no daily needs can be met without a car. Commuting by bicycle is also very hard in this neighbourhood since there are a fair number of elevation changes, and this part of the subdivision of a county municipality is home to quite bad cycling infrastructure.

Services

Families will value the proximity to primary schools, which are within walking distance from most houses for sale in this area. However, Hilden does not have any high schools. Concerning food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to shop for groceries.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will enjoy Hilden. Hilden is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing the majority of buildings in Hilden, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. About one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and the rest are rented.
