Getting around by bicycle is challenging in Birch Hill since there are a fair number of hills, and there are very few bike lanes. A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also not very well-suited for those who travel on foot because running common errands is almost impossible without needing to resort to a vehicle.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries. When it comes to education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this area.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a calm environment will enjoy Birch Hill. Birch Hill is especially quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Around 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 10% are rented. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. About one third of properties in this part of the subdivision of a county municipality were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
