Russell Lake

Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Russell Lake is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

The preferred approach to get around in Russell Lake is usually driving. Many homes for sale are a very short car ride from the closest highway, and it is very convenient to find a place to park. In contrast, this area is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually around the corner. The bike is a sometimes poor method of transportation in Russell Lake as the bicycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed, and the area is not very flat. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are also not especially suitable for pedestrians since carrying out day-to-day needs is occasionally challenging without a vehicle.

Services

It is very often practical for property owners in Russell Lake to buy groceries without the use of a vehicle. Additionally, a coffee shop is often just around the corner, and there are also a limited number of options for those who care about restaurants in close proximity. When it comes to education, daycares are easy to get to as a pedestrian from most houses for sale in this part of Halifax. However, there are no primary schools and no high schools in Russell Lake.

Character

The character of Russell Lake is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. This area is very quiet overall, as the streets tend to be very tranquil. Lastly, many locations in the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to green spaces, including Russell Lake Park and Baker Drive Community Park, since there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

In Russell Lake, around 40% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and single detached homes. This area has a good choice of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and owners occupy the remainder. This area experienced its largest construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available housing is from this era.
