The community of Oyster Pond is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Commuting by car is especially convenient in this area. It is very easy to come across a place to park. Oyster Pond is not very conducive to bicycling as bicycling is rendered strenuous by the often sloping area, and there are very few bike lanes. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of the municipality are located in places that are also not very convenient for people who like to get around by foot because almost no daily errands can be run without the use of a car.

There are only a very small number of primary schools in Oyster Pond and accordingly they can be a very long stroll away. Likewise, this part of Halifax does not have any high schools.
