Transportation

Cars are a great medium of transportation in Oakfield. It is very convenient to park. A majority of the homes for sale in this community are located in places that are not very suitable for those who travel by walking as almost no common errands can be run without a car. This area is also not very amenable to biking as the terrain is not especially flat, and the cycling network is quite poor.

Services

Oakfield does not contain any high schools or primary schools. When it comes to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries.

Character

Oakfield is a very good community to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm atmosphere. Oakfield is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. It is very hard to access parks from most locations within the community since they are sparse. Despite that, there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

Roughly 90% of the population of this community own their home while renters make up the remainder. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this part of Halifax is an important part of its character. Around 40% of properties in this community were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
