Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Kearney Lake is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Kearney Lake is very car friendly. The majority of properties for sale are a very short car ride from the nearest highway, and coming across a parking spot is generally easy. However, the public transit service in Kearney Lake is not very frequent. Thankfully, homeowners have access to a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually around the corner. Kearney Lake is not particularly conducive to people who prefer to travel by walking as few daily errands can be run without a car. Bicycling is also occasionally difficult in this part of Halifax as the bicycling network is fairly poor, and there is a significant amount of hills.

Services

Parents and their kids will value the proximity to high schools, which are within a short distance from most houses for sale in this neighbourhood. However, there are no primary schools in this neighbourhood. Regarding eating, house buyers in this part of Halifax almost always have to use a car to travel to the nearest supermarket. Nonetheless, it is generally a very short walk to the closest pharmacy, which can supply some basic food items. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate close by restaurants.

Character

Kearney Lake is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. This part of Halifax is reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Lastly, it is easy to reach green spaces since there are a few of them close by for residents to check out.

Housing

In Kearney Lake, roughly 55% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, but single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This part of the municipality experienced its largest construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. About two thirds of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas owners occupy the remainder.
