Cow Bay

Cow Bay is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cow Bay is particularly car friendly. It is very convenient to park. Cow Bay is not very suited for cycling because cyclists encounter a considerable amount of elevation changes, and there are very few bike lanes. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are also not very well-suited for those who prefer to get around on foot since running daily errands is very inconvenient without the need to use a vehicle.

Services

A car is almost always needed in this area to access the nearest supermarket. Regarding education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this area.

Character

People who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere will enjoy Cow Bay. This part of Halifax is very quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, most locations in the community have fairly good access to public green spaces, including Shearwater Flyer Trail Park, since there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to discover.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Cow Bay is an important part of its character. This part of the municipality is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the units in the community are occupied by homeowners and renters occupy the remainder. This part of Halifax did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new buildings in the community was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
