Transportation

Driving is a very good medium of transportation in this community. It is very easy to park. However, the public transit service in this part of the municipality is not very frequent. Nevertheless, homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are usually nearby. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of Halifax are located in places that are not very conducive to those who travel by foot as running common errands is very inconvenient. This area is also not particularly appropriate for biking as Cherry Brook has a quite bad bicycling infrastructure, and there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave.

Services

It is a short walk to get to both primary and secondary schools from any location in Cherry Brook. However, daycares are not numerous and consequently not always within walking distance. Concerning food, in all but a few cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries.

Character

Cherry Brook is a wonderful community to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. This part of Halifax is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Lastly, it is easy to reach parks since there are a few of them nearby for residents to visit.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing most buildings in Cherry Brook, but mobile homes are also present in the housing stock. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the units in Cherry Brook and 10% are rented. About one quarter of homes in this community were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.
