The community of Big Pond is part of the municipality of Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Cape Breton metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured approach to move around in Big Pond is usually a car. It is especially convenient to come across a place to park. Bicycling is very hard in Big Pond since there are a good number of elevation changes, and there are very few bike lanes. Most houses for sale in this community are located in places that are also not very well-suited for pedestrians because almost no daily needs can be met without a vehicle.

This part of the municipality does not have any high schools or primary schools. With regards to eating, home buyers in this area almost always need a vehicle to do their grocery shopping.
