The community of Portage can be found in the municipality of Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Cape Breton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Portage. It is very easy to park. Traveling as a pedestrian is not very practical for property owners in this part of Cape Breton Municipality as running common errands is very inconvenient without a vehicle. Portage is also not very appropriate for bicycling because this community has quite bad cycling infrastructure, and the topography is not especially flat.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to purchase groceries. There are a few choices for those who care about nearby restaurants. In terms of education, this area does not contain any high schools or primary schools.

Character

The character of Portage is exemplified by its relaxed environment. There are a few parks close by for residents to visit, which makes them very easy to get to. This area is also especially quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.
