Part of the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Gillis Lake is a community within Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent transportation option in Gillis Lake. It is very easy to access a parking spot. Walking is not very practical for home buyers in Gillis Lake since running daily errands is almost impossible without a car. The bicycle is a rather limited method of transportation in this area because the cycling network is quite poor, and there are a good number of slopes.

Services

Gillis Lake does not contain any high schools or primary schools. As far as eating is concerned, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed in this area to access the nearest supermarket.

Character

Gillis Lake offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Although the community does not contain any public green spaces, parks are badly-situated in nearby communities, which makes them very easy to get to. The noise levels in this part of the municipality are also especially low, as the streets tend to be very tranquil.

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing the vast majority of dwellings in Gillis Lake, and the remainder are mainly duplexes.
