Catalone

Located within the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Catalone is a community in Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Cars are an excellent transportation option in Catalone. It is very easy to park. This area is not very cycling-friendly as there are very few bike lanes, and the topography is not very flat. It is also very difficult for pedestrians to get around in Catalone because almost no daily needs can be carried out without the use of a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this part of the municipality. Concerning eating, house buyers in this area almost always have to use a car to travel to the nearest grocery store.

Character

The character of Catalone is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Most areas in this part of Cape Breton Municipality are quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic. Finally, although Catalone does not contain any public green spaces, parks are very well-spread out in nearby communities, which results in them being very easy to access from the majority of locations within Catalone.

Nearly 90% of the population of this community own their home and 10% are renters. The housing stock of this part of Cape Breton Municipality is composed primarily of single detached homes and townhouses. Around 45% of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This community offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
