Forest Hills is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick, which is located in the Greater Saint John metropolitan area.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is especially car friendly. It is a reasonably short car ride to the closest highway from any location in this part of Saint John, and parking is generally easy. However, getting around by public transit is difficult in Forest Hills. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most residences. Forest Hills is not particularly appropriate for cycling as the cycling network is not very well-developed, and riding is rendered arduous by the typically steep topography. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are also not very conducive to people who travel on foot as few common errands can be run without a car.

Services

It is convenient to get to the nearest grocery store without a car in Forest Hills. There are also a limited number of opportunities for those who care about restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Concerning education, primary schools and daycares are very easy to get to without a car from most properties for sale in Forest Hills. However, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood.

Character

Forest Hills is an excellent neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed ambience. Forest Hills is great for those who like quiet areas, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Green spaces are distributed sporadically, making it rather difficult to reach them. Despite that, residents will be able to access public green spaces in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about 45% of dwellings in Forest Hills, and the rest of the properties are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes. Most housing in this area was constructed between 1960 and 1980, during its most significant construction boom. This part of Saint John offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 60% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 40% are renters.
