Brookville

The neighbourhood of Brookville is part of the city of Saint John, New Brunswick, which is located in the Greater Saint John metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is very often the best way to navigate Brookville. It is very convenient to park, and the majority of homes for sale are a short drive from the closest highway. However, the public transit service in this part of the city is not very frequent. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are generally close by. This part of the city is not especially appropriate for cycling as riding is made arduous by the often hilly area, and the bicycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. It is also challenging for pedestrians to get around in Brookville since meeting daily needs is inconvenient.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required to shop for groceries. When it comes to education, Brookville does not have any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, there are only a very small number of daycares and accordingly they can be a very long walk away.

Character

The noise levels in Brookville are low, as the streets are generally reasonably calm - however some parts can be quite noisy, especially closer to the railway line. Green spaces are distributed sporadically, which results in them being rather difficult to get to from many locations within this neighbourhood. Despite that, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Brookville is an important part of its character. Most of the housing growth in this part of Saint John happened pre-1960. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around 85% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 15% are rented.
