Heritage Park

The neighbourhood of Heritage Park is part of the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is located in the Greater Winnipeg metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured approach to move around in Heritage Park is usually a car. It is easy to access a parking spot, and the majority of properties for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway. However, the public transit system in this neighbourhood is not very practical. Nevertheless, property owners have access to a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. This part of the city is reasonably bike-friendly as the cycling network is reasonably good. Heritage Park is not particularly suitable for walking as running common errands is occasionally challenging by walking.

Services

It is a short walk to get to schools and daycares from anywhere in this part of Winnipeg. Concerning eating, in most cases, a car is needed in Heritage Park to access the closest supermarket. Nevertheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and consequently some staple foods is usually convenient. Residents of this part of the city benefit from a few restaurants as well.

Character

Heritage Park is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. Green spaces, like Sturgeon Road Athletic Field and Sturgeon Creek Parkway-B, are very well-distributed and there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to discover, which makes it very easy to reach them. This neighbourhood is also very quiet, as there are low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the main housing type, representing around 40% of dwellings in Heritage Park, but large apartment buildings and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This area also has a good selection of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. This part of the city experienced its biggest construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available housing is from this era.
