Altamont

Altamont is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in this part of the municipality. It is very easy to access a place to park, and it is a rather short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from any location in Altamont. In contrast, public transit riders may have few choices in Altamont as a result of the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. Many of the houses for sale in this area are located in places that are not very suitable for walking because most daily needs are impractical to meet without having to use a car. Travelling by bicycle is also challenging in Altamont because riding is made difficult by the typically steep terrain, and there are few bike lanes.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are straightforward to get to on foot from most houses for sale in this area. In contrast, Altamont does not contain any high schools. Concerning eating, it is very rarely practical for property owners in this area to reach the nearest supermarket by walking.

Character

Altamont offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. Parks are very easy to get to since there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to check out. This part of the municipality is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to the railway line or Trans-Canada Highway.

Housing

In Altamont, almost all buildings are single detached homes, whereas the rest are mainly duplexes. This area also has quite a good selection of housing size options - there is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of West Vancouver. Roughly 165% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. The buildings in this area are very old, since around 70% of its dwellings were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.
