Altamont

The neighbourhood of Altamont is part of the municipality of West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Travelling by car is very convenient in this part of West Vancouver. It is especially convenient to find a place to park, and nearby highways, such as Trans-Canada Highway, are easy to drive to from any home in Altamont. In contrast, the public transit system in this area is not very accessible. Nonetheless, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most homes. Altamont is not very suitable for those who travel by foot as running common errands is inconvenient. The bicycle is a rather poor mode of transportation in Altamont as there are few bike lanes, and cyclists are faced with quite a few slopes.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to do groceries. With regards to education, daycares and primary schools are very easy to access on foot from most houses for sale in this part of the municipality. In contrast, there are no high schools in Altamont.

Character

Altamont offers a relaxed environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially closer to the railway line or Trans-Canada Highway. Lastly, public green spaces are very well-spread out and there are approximately 10 of them nearby for residents to enjoy, which makes it very easy to access them.

Housing

Single detached homes and townhouses are the main housing type in Altamont. This part of the municipality is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 85% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. This neighbourhood did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new dwellings in Altamont was spread throughout multiple decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
