Yaletown

Yaletown is a neighbourhood within Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of Vancouver does not demand use of a car since several other modes of transportation are at the disposal of homeowners. Yaletown is especially suitable for those who travel by foot; all daily needs can be carried out on foot, and plenty of businesses are very nearby. This neighbourhood is also a very pleasant part of Vancouver for bike riders. More precisely, a bike share station is always located in close proximity, and the bicycling infrastructure is especially comprehensive. The public transit system in Yaletown is very practical. In particular, the nearest rapid transit station, including Yaletown-Roundhouse Station @ Platform 2 and Yaletown-Roundhouse Station @ Platform 1 with access to the Canada Line, is commonly just around the corner from the bulk of properties in the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is served by about 10 bus lines, and bus stops are usually nearby. On the other hand, driving is a fairly poor transportation option in this part of the city because it is very hard to park, and the street infrastructure is not very amenable to cars.

Services

It is a short walk to access schools and daycares from anywhere in Yaletown. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools. With respect to food, it is especially convenient to get to both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from any home in Yaletown. Likewise, there are over 50 restaurants and a few coffee shops to benefit from in Yaletown.

Character

Yaletown is a great part of the city for those who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Finding energetic places in this part of Vancouver is especially easy. There is a wide selection of entertainment venues, the streets are usually busy with people, and with its a few bars, there are options for nighttime activities. There are a few green spaces nearby for residents to discover and they are especially well-spread out, which results in them being very easy to get to from the majority of locations in Yaletown.

Housing

The buildings in this neighbourhood are very new, since most of its buildings were constructed in the 1990s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 2000s. The predominance of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this part of Vancouver is an important part of its character. The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even. This part of the city is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
