Willoughby

Willoughby is a neighbourhood within Township of Langley, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Willoughby is very car friendly. Accessing a parking spot is easy. On the other hand, commuting by transit can be challenging in this part of the municipality by reason of the low service level. Thankfully, there are about 10 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. Travelling by foot is not very common in this part of the municipality, despite the fact that carrying out daily needs is easy by walking. Although the cycling network is quite comprehensive, biking is also sometimes difficult in this neighbourhood since riding is made strenuous by the often sloping area.

Services

Some house buyers in this part of the municipality may be able to buy their groceries by walking, while others will need another means of transportation. Residents are served by around 30 restaurants and cafes as well. Regarding education, it is a reasonably short walk to reach primary schools and daycares from anywhere in Willoughby. On the other hand, it can be difficult to get to high schools as a pedestrian.

Character

The character of Willoughby is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This part of the municipality is reasonably quiet, as the streets are usually quite peaceful - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, reaching public green spaces, such as Willoughby Community Centre - Langley Events Centre and R E Mountain Secondary School, is very easy from most locations within the neighbourhood since there are over 100 of them close by for residents to unwind in.

Housing

The majority of the housing stock of Willoughby consists of townhouses and single detached homes, and the rest are mainly large apartment buildings and duplexes. This part of the municipality offers mainly two bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the units in Willoughby and 20% are rented. This area experienced its biggest construction boom after the year 2000, so most of the available homes are from this era.
